Aim of Squad:

Have everyone in Squad swimming at National Championships and above.

Squad Criteria:

  • As the lead squad for the Durham Hub Programme and pinnacle for the Competitive Performance
    Academy; swimmers must have Professional High Performance attitude.
  • Swimmers must be looking to maximise their performance, reaching their full potential, aiming for National or International competitions.
  • Swimmers will be predominantly youth / senior.
  • Swimmers must have a minimum of NER times or have potential to fit the criteria of the squad decided by the Head Coach.
  • Attendance 90% or above every month, if constantly hitting a low attendance then your place in the squad will be at risk.
  • Mornings and Land Work are not optional, selected swimmers will be expected to complete a weight programme.
  • Training is medley based and swimmers are expected to work on perfecting all four strokes.
  • Attend all competitions selected by the Head Coach; compete in events agreed with Head Coach.
  • Swimmers must have a positive and determined attitude to training and competition; NO negative attitude will be tolerated.
  • Swimmers not following the criteria, or do not have the correct attitude to training or competition; their place will be at risk in the squad.
  • No ones place in the squad is permanent; your place has to be earned in terms of ability, attendance and attitude.
  • Any decision regarding this squad is at the Head Coaches discretion.
  • Swimmers who attend beacon miss sessions on a Wednesday and Saturday
  • Swimmers must be on poolside 10/15 minutes before every session to complete a poolside warm up.
  • If you are ill or injured it is up to the coach whether you are fit enough to enter the pool, but if you turn up to the session you are expected to complete it.
  • Swimmers must have all the equipment needed for every session.
